Lost Posts: TdS day 5

If you use enough sauce you can't see the fishes looking at you

Day 5 of our summer Tour de Saimaa, in which we...

• Get immediately lost on leaving the campsite by trying to find a postbox
• Have novelty of clouds and showers (but still 27°!)
• Encounter the odd mosquito as we enter the forest... and some trickier gravel roads
• Roads and amount of bugs get worse; Konna is struggling on the short but sharp hills - I am unsure if she is flapping her arms to get up them or get rid of the insects that seem to prefer her to me
• To add injury to insult a dog then decides to 'see us off' and nips Konna on the ankle
• Are really please to find a little sheltered picnic table at Pihlajalahti to stop at after 25km of forest tracks
• And are actually pleased to be back on the 'proper' road again
• See lots of cars towing rowing boats

• We I make camp at the foot of a skijump hill (in the temporary Sulkava campsite).  Konna claims to be is understandably ihan poikki (completely shattered) after 44km + insect & dog bites and refuses to help (although somehow manages to summon the strength to take a photo of me trying to put the tent up)
• Have a sauna, swim in the river; feel better
• Join the crowds and have a Finnish fry-up from street vendor; feel even better
• Find wooden 'church' rowing boats parked either side of our tent - now what could be going on here?
